Eventually, you may want to bring your parents or siblings to the U.S. You need to understand the Visa Categories early.

• Realize that bringing family is a long-term game.
  • Visitors (B-2): Good for graduations or short visits.
  • Dependents (H-4/F-2): Only for your spouse and children.
  • Green Card Sponsorship: This usually only happens once you become a U.S. Citizen.
• Don't promise your family they can move to the U.S. next year. Immigration laws change often. Keep them informed about the reality so they don't make life decisions (like selling a house) based on a guess.
