Prove the concept and get your first paying customer fast.
Complete customer discovery
Talk to 20-30 potential customers before writing any code. Use the 'Mom Test'—don't ask if they like your idea (people lie to be nice). Instead ask: 'Tell me about the last time you dealt with [Problem]. How did you try to fix it? How much did it cost?' Listen for emotion—frustration means a real problem.
Build MVP
An MVP is the smallest version someone will pay for. Use the MoSCoW Method: Must-have (build this one feature), Should-have (wait), Could-have (banned for now), Won't-have (explicitly excluded). If you can solve the problem with a Google Sheet or manual email, do that first to prove demand.
Get first paying customer
You don't need a marketing budget—you need 'unscalable' hustle. Reach out to people you interviewed. Offer a 'Case Study' deal: 70% discount in exchange for using their success story. Get on Zoom, show the solution, ask for the sale directly. Use Stripe or LemonSqueezy to send a payment link immediately.
