Complete customer discovery
Talk to 20-30 potential customers before writing any code. Use the 'Mom Test'—don't ask if they like your idea (people lie to be nice). Instead ask: 'Tell me about the last time you dealt with [Problem]. How did you try to fix it? How much did it cost?' Listen for emotion—frustration means a real problem.
You need to decide who your customer is: a Business (B2B) or a Consumer (B2C).
- B2B (Business-to-Business): You sell to companies.
- The Reality: It is easier to get $5,000 from one business than $10 from 500 individuals. Businesses have budgets specifically for solving problems. It is often the fastest path to a visa-sponsoring salary.
- B2C (Business-to-Consumer): You sell to regular people.
- The Reality: This requires huge marketing budgets and viral growth. It is very hard for a solo international founder to compete here without millions of dollars in funding.
