2) Job Search System
LinkedIn positioning (headline, keywords, story)
Think of LinkedIn as a giant search engine for people. When a recruiter needs a Data Analyst, they type those words into a search bar. Don't just say 'Student.' Use keywords like 'Java Developer | Computer Science Student | Aspiring Software Engineer.' In your 'About' section, write in the first person ('I'). Tell them what problems you love to solve. A recruiter should know who you are and what you can do in 10 seconds.
Most jobs are filled through referrals. This is when an employee tells their boss, "I know a great student you should hire."
- Before you apply for a job online, search for people who work there. Ask them for a 15-minute "Coffee Chat." Don't ask for a job yet! Just ask how they like working there. If they like you, they will often offer to "refer" you. This puts your resume at the top of the pile instead of the bottom.
