3) Interview Mastery
Interview pacing and offer conversion
An interview is a marathon. You need to keep your energy high from the first minute to the last. Listen more than you speak. If you talk for 5 minutes without stopping, you've lost them. Aim for 2-minute answers. At the end, always have 3-4 smart questions ready for them, like: 'What does success look like in this role after 6 months?' Within 24 hours, send a Thank You Email. Mention something specific you discussed. This shows you were paying attention and that you are truly excited about the job.
Your "Total Compensation" (TC) is usually made up of three different buckets of money.
- Base Salary: This is the guaranteed money you get in every paycheck. This is the most important number because your future raises are usually based on this.
- Sign-on Bonus: A one-time payment given when you start. Warning: If you quit before one year, you usually have to pay this back!
- Equity (Stocks): Some companies give you shares of the company. This can make you rich if the company grows, but it is "paper money" until it vests (usually over 4 years).
